Al Atharee Association of The Gambia for Islamic Education, Dawah and Propagation – About Us

“Al Atharee Association of The Gambia for Islamic Education, Dawah and Propagation” is registered in The Gambia as a Charitable Organization No. 1200/2004. In consideration of The Gambia, professing to be a 95% Muslim nation, our vision, is to create an enabling growth environment, based upon beneficial knowledge, exemplary Islamic application, promotion of literacy and healthy altruistic attitudes.

The Association was founded by a Muslim British couple with backgrounds in Public Health Administration and Education and a Gambian Youth Worker. To date it has developed a strong pro-active Muslim Gambian membership, of whom 3 Executives, have Doctorates from Medina University KSA, close ties with the Ulema and ample experience in Dawah & Outreach projects in African societies.

Our strategy is to develop a ripple effect whereby all participants whether project workers or recipients will become stakeholders not only in the future works of Al Atharee Association, but also in the Islamic development, growth and progress of their own Gambian society.

Now we are entering our 2nd stage of consolidation and growth. Our Association’s drive for establishing Income Generation projects within The Gambia, is currrently our top priority. Therefore, we are asking the general Muslim public, both in The Gambia and abroad, to help us raise the capital required to become Self Sufficient.

All our activities are eligible to reap the rewards of Saddaqa Jarriyah as encapsulated in the Hadith, related on the authority of Abu Hurairah, (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Prophet, Peace be upon him, said;

“Allah will aid a servant (of His) so long as the servant aids his brother. Whosoever follows a path to seek knowledge therein, Allah will make easy for him a path to Paradise”.
