NATIONAL UNION OF THE KENYA MUSLIM SCOUTS

 

National union of the Kenya Muslim scouts is one of the unions charged with the responsibilities of planning, implementing and evaluating scouting activities. The scouts are found in learning institutions and in the community (open groups).

 

DEFINITION

 

The Kenya Scouts Association is a voluntary, non political and educational Association of young people, open to all without distinction of origin, race, gender, and creed or ethnic/tribal background in accordance with the purpose, principles and method as conceived by the Founder as stated below.

PURPOSE

To contribute to the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, emotional, social and spiritual potentials individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of their local, national, regional and international communities.

PRINCIPLES OF SCOUTING

 

  1. Duty to God – The relationship with the spiritual values of life, the fundamental belief in a force above mankind.

 

  1. Duty to Others – The relationship with and responsibility within society in the broadest sense of the term his or her family, local community, country and the world at large as well as respect for others and for the natural world.

 

  1. Duty to Self – Responsibility to develop his or her own potential, to the best of the person’s ability.

 

MISSION

<!–[if !supportLists]–>·         <!–[endif]–>To prepare and develop character in young people by promoting their physical, mental, spiritual intellectual and social well being and in doing so, equipping them with knowledge positive attitudes and skills useful to themselves and their communities.

 

<!–[if !supportLists]–>·         <!–[endif]–>Scouting is recognized as the single largest youth organization in the world with a global membership of 26 million scouts.

 

<!–[if !supportLists]–>·         <!–[endif]–>In Kenya have about three hundred thousand (300,000) Scouts Countrywide. Scouting in Kenya started back in 1910.

 

<!–[if !supportLists]–>·         <!–[endif]–>Scouting is a movement for young people both boys and girls.

<!–[if !supportLists]–>·         <!–[endif]–>Scouting is not just a movement for young people managed by adults only; it is also a movement of young people supported by adults.
